There are some fundamental things that keep an individual feel good about himself.
Among these would be:
That he is doing a job that is meaninful.
That he enjoys doing it.
That what he is doing gives pleasure to others as well.
That he is contributing to the stability of his community.
That he matters.
That others matter to him as well.
